DR. HERBERT PAUL HENDERSON
Family Medicine, Medical Examiner for Carroll County, MD
Herb was soft spoken, kind and preferred to be in the background not the spotlight. He was incredibly intelligent. He loved learning both to help his patients and just the fun of knowing something new. He once taught himself to read Latin so he could read a book in its original Latin text. He had a way of putting people at ease, especially his patients. He had a patient come to him for anxiety because they were failing calculus in college. Instead of a pill, he tutored them in calculus. They passed the class. He loved his kids, he encouraged them to dream big. He enjoyed collecting old coins, imaging what history occurred in their presence, who else might have held it. He was a loving, supportive husband never complaining as I dragged him to join me on early morning 5Ks, or Orioles games. His loss has left a whole in our community.

ARTIST: MONICA TIULESCU is an Oakland based New York City raised artist and educator. The paintings explore fluctuations between disfiguration and figuration between layered fields and familiar beings. The picture plane is amassed to create spatial amplification for the figures to oscillate and dialogue in tension with the viewer. The work is inspired by graffiti and urban street art culture. The dark contour is a critical aspect for linking the figures as a continuous text. The figures are positioned between realism and illustration. This is especially evident in the portraits. The bodies disfigure into lines and anchor the portraits into the painted field.

RENEE FRENCH, RN
Operating Room Nurse Columbia/New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY
Renee wanted to make a splash, to be known not just for her beauty, but for her art. What became her greatest work of art was her personality; 'herself'. The way she'd laugh, converse, gravitate, gyrate, calmly observe, or effortlessly maneuver through crowds was remarkable and brilliant. Renee worked in modeling, film, music; she traveled and learned arts abroad. Her nursing career began at Albany Medical Center, later becoming an OR Transplant Nurse at Columbia New York Presbyterian. Those 11 years spent in OR were both rewarding & difficult. Most recently, during today's global crisis, Renee rose to the challenge. When asked if she thought it would be wise to leave the city, Renee simply replied "I am a nurse, I have a duty." She was a frontline ICU nurse until the end.
